Hi,
I’m new to radio, Hospital Exeter Radio being my debut.
Funkytown
Friday will, I hope do exactly what it says on the tin. I want to take
you on a journey through the Motown years and beyond. A recipe to get
your taste buds tingling and your toes tapping, with sweet sensational
soul, fired up funk, mellow Motown moments and some cool jazz thrown in
for good measure.
Brought
up in Ireland but very much at home now in Devon, the Motown years were
a little before my era but nevertheless very influential. I grew up
listening to the Motown my parents listened to and then on into the
funky disco beat of the 70’s & 80’s which flowed from it.
Who can
resist the sheer joy in the music of Stevie Wonder, it’s hard not to get
stirred up by Aretha Franklin and mellow with Smokey. And of course it
would be remiss to leave out some of the great Northern Soul classics.
Later
between 7-8pm I hope you’ll
stay with me for
Paula’s
Pick
where I will be featuring an album. Classic or New, I
will be sharing my favourites with you and giving you a few tid bits and
background on the artists/album. This is one that crosses all musical
genres so be prepared to be taken out of your comfort zone. Everything
and anything from Mozart to Motorhead, a magical mystery tour.
I’d
be delighted to have you keep me company.
